Katahdin & Border Leicester Sheep

We have been raising various breeds of sheep since 2000. Katahdin’s have proven to be the best choice for our farm. They are easy keeping, resilient breed that are consistent excellent mothers. They are a hair breed that does not require shearing or tail docking, making it easier for the shepherd and lamb. See katahdin.org for more information on the breed

Our breeding program has focused on:

• Maternal traits, such as easy lambing and ewes that raised their young with little support
• Heavy muscled lambs that will produce a good carcass
• Resilient, select breeding ewes that will perform

We recently added Border Leicester sheep as well to the farm. They are a dual purpose long wool breed that we hope to use in our future program for wool as well as showing at local and regional fairs.
